Linda Fregni Nagler

Football Field belongs to Linda Fregni Nagler’s Playgrounds series, exhibited in New York in 2006 at The Italian Academy at Columbia University. The playgrounds are photographed at night, in difficult weather and light conditions, which require a long exposure: the details therefore only appear in the development phase. According to the artist’s vision, this gives a new appearance to banal places that lose their function at night and thus become lonely and meaningless.

Linda Fregni Nagler has been researching over the years on the nature, the mechanisms and the ambiguities of the photographic language. She is one of the most interesting and significant personalities of the Italian contemporary art scene. Her work is about appropriation, the archive, the montage, the conceptual nature of the photographic medium. She studied cinematography in Cuba and New York, and obtained a degree from the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera, Milan, where she teaches in the Master Programme in photography. *She was born in Stockholm in 1976, and lives and works in Milan.
