Donne IMMAGINI

Marcella Campagnano

Marcella Campagnano uses the image as a tool to reflect on the condition of women. In the 1970s, she formulated a hypothesis on female identity and, together with her friends, fellow travellers in the women’s movement, produced several series of black and white photographic images.

By improvising a set in the living room of her house from 1974 Campagnano produced one of the most significant works on identity, its ambiguous character as a social construction and its relative representation in the artistic research of the 1970s and in the art of the feminist avant-garde.
