Temporary Life

Francesca Cao

Earthquakes have opened up rips in the fragile geological and social structure of Italy that have often never been patched up, leaving deep traces in the territory. After the earthquake that struck Abruzzo in 2009, photographer Francesca Cao undertook a journey to map the country, in search of the remnants of past earthquakes, the architecture of the emergency, the reconstructions attempted and those missed, which have also marked the post-seismic landscape in the ways and forms of living of the communities affected.
