Program of additional activities at the Ragusa Foto Festival 2021

The Association “Collezione Donata Pizzi” ETS collaborates as a partner for the cultural activities of the Ragusa Foto Festival 2021 now in its ninth edition and sponsored by MiC, Caritas Italiana, Libero Consorzio Comunale di Ragusa, Fondazione di Comunità Val di Noto, Camera di Commercio del Sud Est Sicilia, curated by Stefania Paxhia and Steve Bisson.

The exhibitions are set up in the historical sites of Ragusa Ibla – Palazzo Cosentini, Palazzo La Rocca and Auditorium San Vincenzo Ferreri.

The Association supports the main initiatives already scheduled with a series of events related to the Collection.

Collaboration and support for research around the Sicilian Presidia of Caritas Italiana, Marina di Acate and Pachino, to recount paths of social innovation initiated since 2014 in the territory by Caritas Italiana. Through the gaze and conceptual visual language of Martina Della Valle, the project chronicles the everyday life of workers who are part of the last link in the value chain of local agricultural production and who wish to build their belonging to our territory in a sense of identity.

Correspondence by Martina Della Valle was born from the long-distance correspondence between the artist, who lives in Berlin, and a group of women of different ages and origins, who attend the Italian school of the Presidio Caritas of Pachino. This exchange of words and images has composed a story in fragments of their reality and a subjective reflection on their current daily life.

The Association “Collezione Donata Pizzi” ETS signaled the photographer for her conceptual approach compared to reportage, confirming the Association’s commitment to identify alternative ways to describe contemporary social phenomena.

Other activities within the Ragusa Foto Festival 2021, related to the Collection:

• exhibition set-up of The Y by photographer Alba Zari at Palazzo La Rocca;
• portfolio reviews with the president of the Association, Donata Pizzi;
• publication of Stories on Instagram about the works of the Collection featured in the exhibition.
